Giving Back on #GivingTuesday
This year’s #GivingTuesday is expected to be the largest one yet and Tech Networks of Boston is excited to do our part to support some of the wonderful organizations that help make our world a better place.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate giving worldwide. This annual event takes place on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday and will fall on November 27th. People across the globe will use the hashtag #GivingTuesday to recognize the ways we can generously give back to our communities. If you are an official charity (a 501(c)3 in the U.S.) with a specific #GivingTuesday initiative, or a for-profit business, school, religious or community group committed to spearhead a project benefiting at least one registered charity you can register here.
This year, Tech Networks of Boston will bring awareness to our nonprofit client’s missions through use of a social media campaign. We will donate money to each of our client organizations depending on re-tweets and shares on different social networking sites. We hope you’ll follow us on #GivingTuesday and see which organizations we support.
If you’re a nonprofit, we wanted to provide a few relevant tips to empower your promotional efforts in the upcoming weeks. Nonprofits who are planning campaigns for #GivingTuesday should not underestimate the role certain technological tools can play in their success.
- Make sure your website can handle an increase in traffic and backup your site in case of a crash.
- Utilize large clickable buttons with a call-to-action to donate on your homepage.
- Start reaching out to donors ahead of time with your Giving Tuesday plans by use of email, social media, and PR campaigns.
- Don’t be afraid to ask your personal networks to donate. Social media will continue to be the strongest platform for promotion – but engagement with your friends and business partners makes your ask more personal.
