Tech Networks of Boston (TNB) is pleased to invite nonprofit professionals to a Roundtable session about capturing data and learnings from a network of nonprofits. Our featured guests will be Jennifer Lowe and Gianna Gambardella of Economic Mobility Pathways (EMPath).
Here is what Gianna and Jennifer say about this session:
“EMPath manages a learning network, the Economic Mobility Exchange, comprised of over seventy nonprofit organizations and government agencies learning together about EMPath’s coaching model and tools designed to support families and individuals move out of poverty. EMPath takes an ‘open source’ inspired approach to the model, encouraging network members to iterate and improve the model within their own programs and communities, and share back with others. Within the network, there is an amazing wealth of experience, innovative applications of the model and evolutions of the tools, as well as outcomes data collected by each member organization. With a quickly growing network, EMPath’s challenge was to determine how to effectively document, make sense of, and disseminate the critical learnings happening within the network. This session will demonstrate the various ways in which EMPath collects and shares back this information and data with members to facilitate ongoing discussion and model evolution.”
Here’s a little more about Gianna:
Gianna Gambardella joined Economic Mobility Pathways in 2017 and serves as the data manager for the research and evaluation department. During her undergraduate career and beyond, she was highly involved in on-campus research, including her own independent research project on gender-segregation in online spaces. Through outside volunteer work, she developed an interest in working in homeless support services and then served as a career counselor and life skills instructor at the St. Francis House intensive employment services program before deciding to return to research. As the data manager for outside projects, Gianna brings a strong commitment to connecting organizations to each other through shared knowledge, collaboration, and continued innovation.
Here’s a little more about Jennifer:
Jennifer Lowe joined Economic Mobility Pathways (EMPath) in 2008 and currently serves as the vice president of shared learning and member networks. In this role, she leads the Economic Mobility Exchange, an international member-based learning network of over seventy nonprofits and government agencies. Jennifer previously provided oversight and strategic direction of EMPath’s outcomes initiative and research projects. Prior to joining EMPath, Jennifer served as the associate director of the Boston based civil rights organization, Organization for a New Equality, and has years of experience in project management and direct service working with homeless families. Additionally, Jennifer taught undergraduate courses in sociology at Northeastern University and Bryant University. In 2010, she was presented with the annual Sociologist of the Year award from the New England Sociological Association (NESA). Jennifer serves as a board member for The Midas Collaborative, a network of nonprofit organizations promoting financial security among low and moderate income households. Jennifer earned her PhD in Sociology from Northeastern University, specializing in social inequalities and urban sociology.
