Tech Networks of Boston (also known as TNB) is pleased to invite local employees of nonprofit organizations to a Roundtable session on making nonprofit data fun and using data to bring people together. Our featured guest will be Rahul Bhargava, a research scientist at MIT’s Center for Civic Media.
Here’s what Rahul says about this session:
“You’ve heard the hype. You’ve gotten the .xls in your inbox with a command to be more “data-driven”. Yes, that data can help improve your operations or decision making, but it can also be used to bring people together and help spread your message in fun ways! Come talk about real examples and how you can change your approach to the data you have, or the data you wish you had.
“Finding stories in your data is hard, and too often boring. We’ll discuss approaches to playing with your data that help you find the stories that the important ones for you to tell right now. The hype is right, data manipulation is a core new skill for social change work, but we’re going to focus on talking about how to use that new skill in the right way to reinforce your message and create the change you want in the world.”
