The individual taking this role will have responsibilities as an IT Strategic Engineer (ITSE).
The individual will be innovative and principled. He/she will embody TNB’s values by

In the work on strategy projects, he/she promotes IT as an integral component in
identifying and implementing strategies that generate positive ROI, thus enabling the
organizations to deliver services, increase in scale, and create innovative solutions.
Strategic planning is also a critical success factor in helping organizations report the
efficacy of their programs to their donors, foundations, and government agencies.
The ITSE will be assigned other project work as well. He/she will design and implement
technology solutions to better enable customers to achieve their desired mission outcomes.
In addition, the ITSE will serve as an escalation point for other TNB engineers and provides
critical incident support. This includes assignments for on-call.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
An ITSE ensures that client service requests are fulfilled in accordance with client contracts
He/she will consistently demonstrate leadership, focus on client needs, and deliver
services in the most professional manner. This individual will communicate with client
staffs at all levels, vendors, and other TNB employees. He/she will also serve as a resource
or other TNB departments and customers as needed.
Work with the sales team to prospect and identify opportunities.
Ensure that the technical design for a project is accurate and suitable to achieve the customer’s desired results.
Provide accurate materials lists and labor estimates included in any proposal or statement of work are accurate.
Collaborate with customer’s point of contact (POC) and the TNB team to delineate clear expectations and deliverables for all projects.
Maintain consistent, high-quality communication with all stakeholders throughout the project, including requirements, risk of down time, business interruptions, and business process changes.
Ensure that all agreed upon project objectives are met, including supplying all technical and business process change documentation to the customer.
For these types of projects, the ITSE will work on projects and may perform services for clients on a monthly recurring basis. He/she will:
Work with the sales team to prospect and identify opportunities.
1. Develop a process to estimate the number of hours to complete assessments based on the size and type of client organization; these may include (and are not limited to):
number of staff to be interviewed
total number of staff
number of programs
complexity of the organization
2. Manage the assessment project from signature to delivery and presentation of final report.
3. Collaborate with all members of the team, including Senior Network Engineer to perform infrastructure assessment.
4. Collect and collate data from multiple sources (staff survey, interviews, review of organization’s strategy documents, etc.).
5. Compose written report outlining findings and recommendations.
6. Prepare and present report to key client personnel.

1. Helps clients understand their needs and facilitates strategic decisions that become codified in the operation of its systems.
2. Creates a framework that systems best suit the needs of the client and are organized and efficient.
3. Ensures that IT services directly supports the initiatives and goals of the organization.
Bachelor’s Degree in management information systems, business, engineering, or operations is required
Minimum of 8 years related work experience is required
Demonstrated project management, business analysis and change management skills are essential
Strong virtualization experience using VMware
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange (including Office 365) and SQL Server
Knowledge of cloud-based IaaS and PaaS platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure, as well as cloud-based or RDS-published applications
Practical knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially with Excel, Word and PowerPoint, is a must
Strong customer-service orientation is preferred
Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills are desired
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language are desired
Must have keen attention to details
Must be highly self-motivated and directed
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is essential
Ability to maintain good working relationships with third party service providers and vendors

The work environment is a standard office setting including standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, etc.). These work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the employee will encounter. However, the ITSE will be at client sites on a regular basis. The noise level in these work environments is usually quiet to moderate, however, work environments at various client sites may vary.
The employee may find the environment to be busy and will need excellent organizational, time, and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.

The office is open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. General working hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm. You may be required to work other hours. In addition, there is a possibility of flexible time based on the client needs and desires.
On-call work will be assigned on a rotating basis.
